    Lessons Learned

Probably my favorite part of the material this week was the mini cases. I like the way that they made me think. Both of the short stories provided pose a similar scenario to the reader. The short stories talk about a hypothetical situation in which the reader is forced to choose between his career or his family. The details differ, but the overall message is the same. The stories pose the question, what would you do? how would you react? I really like these kinds of questions because they force you to think. Although the chance of a similar situation happening is very low, these types of questions are still useful because when we can think about something beforehand, even hypothetically, we prepare ourselves for future events and scenarios. I appreciated how these questions forced me to think a little bit deeper and really put myself in the scenario to see how I would react. I found that I am pretty straight down the middle when it comes to these types of scenarios. I understand how important it is to be there for family functions and be present at all times. However, I also realize that I need to sacrifice time away from the family in order to provide for the family. These questions aren't really as one-sided as we might think. Really, the force is to try and find a balance and to discover what is the correct amount of time that needs to go on each side of the scale.

 Lessons not yet learned

I think that questions like these are good because they force us to pretend as if we are put in the situations described. We are forced to think a little deeper and I think it helps us be better.
