Lessons Learned
Three things that I learned in this week's study were the importance of setting rules for your family and business life, the importance of always being able to accept a church calling, and the importance of being an entrepreneur because you love it and not for the money. All three of these lessons are important because they help me mentally prepare for this career field. They are like tools in my toolbox that can help me to be a balanced man on top of being an entrepreneur. Of the three that I chose, the most interesting one is the "setting rules" for family life principle. I enjoyed the author's story where he said that in his family they had rules about certain things that they always did no matter what. No matter how busy he was or how many things he needed to do, the rule that they set was to always have family dinner at 7pm every night. This was very important because it was dedicated family time and it was a rule that they never broke. This helped them to remain close as a family despite busy schedules. This is important to me because it is a tip that I think I will use in my own life in the future. I believe that it will help me stay close to my family no matter what.
Lessons not yet learned
I plan on applying the rules principle to my own life. One thing I think could be beneficial is setting a family rule to always have a family home evening on Monday nights no matter what. This is something that we did in my family growing up and I helped us to always have a night when we were together just as a family. Going forward, I want to make specific commitments and rules with my family to ensure that we stand strong through the tests of life.
