Week 5

5 /25/24 Entrepreneur Journal -Week Five-      Lessons Learned  This week we studied a video titled The Hero's Journey. It is a video that compares the commonly used storytelling template to your own personal life as an entrepreneur. The video explains what this means and also outlines how looking at it in this way can help you as a businessman or even simply in life. I enjoyed this relationship and found it interesting when applied to my own life. I feel like too often as humans we seem to think of ourselves as products of our own environment. We seem to organize ourselves in little boxes or groups based on things that happen to us in our lives. This is self-destructive because it does not allow the person to fully take ownership of their life. The hero's journey model to me is very interesting because it inspires people to take ownership of every aspect of their lives. It challenges everyone to become the hero of their own story and forge a journ...

Week 4

5 /18/24 Entrepreneur Journal -Week Four-      Lessons Learned  The most impactful thing out of this week's material for me was the self-reflection essay. Reading the document and reflecting on what it said really helped me to realize how important God is in my own life. Then after writing things out, I realized even more that I couldn't do any of this by myself. After realizing how important my relationship with God is to me, I was made aware of the need to put more daily work into that relationship. I realized that I need to be better with my prayers and scripture reading in order to feel closer to God and receive the revelation I need in order to better navigate college life. I am grateful for the opportunity to reflect a little bit and think about ways to improve.   Lessons not yet learned  With all that being said, I have moved my thinking over to the practical implications of what I have learned this week. I realize what the goals ar...

Week Three

5/11/24 Entrepreneur Journal -Week Three-      Lessons Learned  This week I enjoyed the videos given for studying and pondering. One that I found particularly interesting was one where the speaker spoke of the early days of his first business and how he adapted his family life to it. He described having his family visit him at work so that he could spend time with his wife and kids but also be productive and teach his children the value of hard and consistent work. Overall, I enjoyed the deep dive into ethics that we took this week and I found it very informational.    Lessons not yet learned  A few things that I am looking forward to experiencing or learning in this class are about the early days in a new business. I feel like we hear so many stories of others and the early days of their businesses. One example is Elon Musk talking about long 18-hour work days during the beginning phase of Tesla. He talked about frequently sleep...

Week 2 Post (Final)

5 /4/24 Entrepreneur Journal -Week two-      Lessons Learned  This week I was inspired to think about the "stars and stepping stones'' along my path in entrepreneurship. This helped give me a better perspective on my journey as an entrepreneur and the necessary steps required to move forward. I realize now that the next few steps for me are much smaller than I initially thought. For example, last week I thought about a possible business idea and naturally thought that the next step would be to work on the business itself. Now, I realize that there is a lot more that needs to happen first before I can do anything like that. This week I visited the country dancing club again and was determined to ask more questions to the employees. I learned that the owner of the club was in fact, not a college student but a grown adult living in Rexburg. I also learned that the club I visited has two main competitors, a rival club on the other side of town, and the colleg...
